There is so much to explore in the world of Art. Pointillism is an extra-ordinary part of the same. It is a technique which is based on the ability of your eye and your mind to belend color spots into fuller ranger of tones. It can also be referred as divisionism but has a more trchnical emphasis associated.
The practice of pointillism is in sharp contrast to the traditional methods of blending pigments in hand on a palette. Pointillism is analogous to the four-color CMYK printing process used by some particular color printers and large presses that place dots of Cyan (blue), Magenta (red), Yellow, and Key (black).
If red, blue, and green light (the additive primaries) are mixed, the result is something close to white light (there is some physics involved here for your reference like Prism Optics). Pointillist colors often seem brighter than typical mixed subtractive colors which could be in part result of avoiding subtractive mixing of the pigments is avoided.
Oil paints are preferably used for Pointillism as it pertains thickness and does not tend to run or bleed.
There are a lot of designers across the globe who love this use of Dots. The execution could be different but what is common are the dots. We have some amazing examples of artists implementing Pointillism in their routine work.
